AGRO 7000 – Plant Tissue Culture Applied to Genetic Improvement

Level

Master/Doctoral

Credits

04 (60 h)

Content

This course aims at broadening knowledges about plant tissue culture techniques used for breeding and improvement of cultivated species. The main techniques studied are: cell and protoplast cultures, somatic hybridization, genetic transformation, genome edition and haploid production. The use of thesemethods for plant improvement is explained as well as their advantages and disadvantages, and pratical cases are discussed.
